Social Media consumes our lives today in 2016. We find ourselves hash tagging, liking (and now disliking), Instagramming, Pinning, Tweeting… for the majority of our days. I think you can say that it’s a combination plate of positives and negatives!

Social Media allows the 3 C’s --connection, communication and collaboration, which are all amazing things. It shrinks our very large planet into a flat plane of talking to anyone, anywhere in the world.

So if that’s so amazing, how can there be negatives? Well, social media also is a party for all of the egos in the world. Just like news media in general, it can become a platform for the oh so not famous EGO - the attention-seeker. The EGO - attention seeker lacks true happiness and therefore wants you to portray your lives falsely. The individuals who follow through with their EGO's pump up how GREAT their lives are with only perfect instagram pictures, sharing only amazing wonderful things about relationships, traveling and nothing...well not fabulous. 

There are no stories of overcoming failure or struggle into the light. All of this "perfect life" shit displayed across these social platforms is NOT THE TRUTH, and doesn't show the true authenticity of the soul who sits behind the computer or iphone.

HOW HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE TURNED THEIR ATTENTION TO BEING PERFECT...IN THE EYES OF SOCIAL MEDIA?

The impact of celebrities on social media

Wanting to gain status as an individual or as a business

The push from successful entrepreneurs how to increase followers, get more money, live your brand etc.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT ON THE INDIVIDUALS WHO LISTEN TO THE EGO THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA?

They start to believe that the amount of likes and hearts on their posts and pictures, define their worth

They begin to pull away from reality - instead of living in the moment, they’re too focused on what would make a good post or picture

They push an alternate version of themselves into the world which leads to developing connections that aren’t authentic and pure hearted

After reading this, can you identify with being an attention-seeker through the Ego? Can you identify who the attention-seekers are in your social media life? It's important to PAY ATTENTION when you’re scrolling through your social platforms, this is something that is very important to know and understand.

Why? Because "perfect" lives DO NOT EXIST. Perfection is fake, authenticity is the blood-running, heart flipping, imperfectly beautiful human that you are. Whether you are the attention-seeker who is living through your Ego or are living in a world surrounded by attention-seekers it only can do one thing and that's wreck havoc on YOUR OWN SOUL. 

WHAT IS THE IMPACT ON YOUR OWN LIFE...BY BEING IN CONNECTION WITH ATTENTION-SEEKERS?

It makes you believe that perfection is a thing

Comparison. Comparison is the thief of all joy. You find yourself comparing your own life to the life of someone who appears unbreakable and successful at all times

You may start to be sucked into the hole of the attention-seekers

You may feel depressed, unworthy

You may stop sharing your own beautiful, authentic life

IF YOU'RE AN ENTREPRENEUR YOUR QUESTION MIGHT BE... " HOW DO I CREATE A SUCCESSFUL BRAND WITHOUT DOING THIS?

If you’re a business, you’re a BRAND. I’m not saying to not apply filters and make a photo fit in with your brand's mission. I AM saying, don’t be fake and unreal just to increase your following and sales. Photos are beautiful, but what really can help add authenticity is the description below it.

SO HOW CAN ATTENTION-SEEKERS SEEK HELP? HOW CAN OTHERS NOT FALL INTO THE FOLLOWING SUIT?

Take a Break from Social Media- Put down the iPhone and binge yourself on all things social media. It’s hard, I’m not going to lie and say it’s not! Start in small doses and agree to not be on your phone from the time you wake up until a certain time.

Live in the Moment- Breathe and live in the moment. Stop focusing on what around you will make for a good photo opp and enjoy where you are. Nothing compares to a moment experienced versus a moment captured. Experience always wins.

Embrace Authenticity- Remind yourself to not fall into the hole of being an attention-seeker. Embrace who you are at all times.

Why is it that when we feel like shit, we choose to remain in the shit when we KNOW the key to getting ourselves to feel better? We KNOW how to care of ourselves, but we just don’t DO IT. We self-sabotage self-care and self-love and remain purely stagnant. 

BEING AN EMOTIONAL WRECK AND THE GREAT ESCAPE

Is it true that we’d rather remain emotionally wrecked then to feel happier - to get out of the funk? Would we rather let ourselves be self-sabotaged into madness? I’ve been in this situation more times than I can imagine, where my anxiety and ego won the battle over my happiness to get out there and do what I wanted to do - the things that I knew and my soul knew and my body knew would make me feel like me again. I always see the light to escape but I remain rooted and immovable. Unchanged and unmotivated.

THE EFFORT AND THE PUSH FACTOR

Pushing through is the hardest part. It’s literally going into the depths and finding even the slightest motivation to get up and just do it. Do the thing that makes you happy even though you don’t feel like it. My best friend texted me the other night with, “I am such an angry human lol. Everything is enraging me this week. I’m supposed to go to Pilates tonight and the thought of going actually makes me wanna die haha.”

I totally laughed out loud and wrote back that this was perfect timing for what I was going to write about in my blog this week. My reply to her was, “you know it will make you feel better, JUST DO IT!”. My bestie ended up pushing herself to class and guess what? She felt freaking amazing afterwards! She knew that getting herself there was the first step and now it was just to keep pushing.

6 STEPS TO INITIATE THE PUSH

When you’re in a bad mindset, your body reacts. Usually you can feel on edge, tense, exhausted, unmotivated, angry and completely out of whack. You may lash out on other people or just cry for no reason at all. All of these things mean you’re not in control of your body or who you are. The ego has taken the steering wheel and is driving you into a dark place. When this happens it’s beyond hard to get out there and make the change, or take that one first step.

1. GET OUTDOORS - If you’ve been moping around your home all day, a good little first step is to get some fresh air into those lungs. Whenever I feel MEH, my husband always knows that he needs to get my ass outside to start to come alive again and out of any funk that I’m in!  Getting fresh air and being around people when you’ve trapped yourself inside is a great way to start.

2. STRETCH AND FLOW- Light a candle roll out that yoga mat and do a quick 15 minute flow -- it’s a proven fact that yoga greatly helps any mental stress, depression and anxiety. The breathing exercises in coordination with the stretching out of the body helps ground you and relieves stress.

3. STEP BACK AND EVALUATE- Why do you feel the way you do? When you actually take a step back and evaluate why you feel the way you do, it can help promote relief. Get a good cry out if you need to and take note of all the positives in your life. Write it out! Do you want to feel better than you do now? The answer almost always, is yes! You want to feel like a human again and you want to have fun and laugh and be YOU!

4. CLEAN HOUSE- Clean your space! Cleaning up your space brings both mental clarity and physical clairy-- as in you can see your floor again! It’s funny how when things are messy in your physical world they can be really messy in your headspace. Cleaning always makes you start moving around and will get your body movin and groovin. Put on some tunes and hell take all of your frustration out on that bathroom tub!

5. TURN UP THE JAMS- Did you know that music relieves stress because it directly impacts your emotions? So turn on YOUR jam, turn UP the volume and sing it out girl! Another good link between hitting up a yoga class -- between the benefits of yoga itself mentioned above and the music that plays throughout the class, you’ll be sure to be namaste-ing all day long!

6. TUNE INTO YOUR ANGELS- Seek guidance and comfort from your angels and connect through a reading for yourself. HOW CAFFEINE AFFECTS YOUR INTUITION

Did you know that caffeine can affect your intuition? ( Says while sipping on my Almond Latte...) Now I’m not one to preach on NOT drinking coffee or anything caffeine related, because it does have it’s positives! However, if you’re looking to develop your intuition and connect to your angel being besties -- it’s a good idea to take it easy on the Starbucks consumption during your day!

So why does your addiction to caffeine affect intuition and spiritual development?

 

INCREASES YOUR ANXIETY STATE OR THE FEELING OF BEING ON EDGE

If you already have anxiety in general, you know that one cup of coffee can make you feel a little more out of balance with the way you feel with the world and yourself. For me, it’s always going in for the second cup of my favorite cold brew in the afternoon on the weekends… I’ve learned that the second helping of caffeine, really tunes me completely out of my body. I become moody, miserable and just plain BLAH. So now, no more second cup of the day!

CAFFEINE INTUITION TIP: Know your limits. If you love coffee, enjoy your cup but know when to stop consuming! When you feel on edge with caffeine running through your body, you are not connected and grounded to yourself, which blocks any kind of intuitive flow from coming through to you.

 

PUMP,PUMP,PUMPS YOU UP

Caffeine literally JACKS up your body's adrenaline levels. You will be flying high and wide awake for maybe a couple of hours but the CRASH will come...and it will come HARD girl. When your body is so high on adrenaline, your moods can shift from feeling ALIVE and FREE and  I CAN DO ANYTHING, TODAY IS GOING TO KICK-ASS --  to miserable, exhausted, depressed and...needing another cup of coffee to get back on your rocket ship to la la land once again.

CAFFEINE INTUITION TIP: When consuming your dose of caffeine, be sure to drink water! Water will help balance out the high voltage watts of your favorite coffee through your bloodstream. Another great idea is to blend up a coffee infused drink/smoothie bowl blended with other ingredients, to cut down on the caffeine and boost your health at the same time!

1/2 frozen banana
1/4 cup almond milk
1 tbs. almond butter
1/2 cup cold brew iced coffee (steep overnight)

CAFFEINE INTUITION TIP:  AVOID caffeine after 3 PM! Did you know that caffeine sticks in your body for up to FIVE hours after consumption?!

 

YOUR BRAIN WON’T RUN ON THE REQUIRED INTUITION WAVELENGTH (yes, there is one)

Your body and brain are over-stimulated and not running on the required wavelength for you to TAP into the subconscious mind. When you're calm, your brain actually switches to an Alpha wavelength - this wavelength allows deep relaxation and the ability for your to slip into your subconscious mind, where your intuition lives and breathes.


CAFFEINE INTUITION TIP: Schedule your spiritual development practices (meditation, yoga, angel cards etc.) before you have your caffeine or when you are sure you aren’t experiencing any kind of caffeine affect. Being in the right state of mind is very important physically just as it is mentally … and caffeine affects both of those things, greatly!

WHAT ARE ANGEL ORACLE CARDS?

Angel cards are a very powerful tool that provides the pathway of communication from you to your angels. It’s the open invitation that you send to your angels that allows them to talk to you -- they are always eager to help and assist.

 

HOW ARE THESE CARDS DIFFERENT FROM TAROT CARDS?

TAROT CARDS- Tarot cards include 78 cards that are broken down into 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana. Each card in the major arcana is numbered 0-21 and tells the story of Tarot, while the minor arcana supports the details. Tarot readings are very structured in their layouts and do require knowledge of each card’s meaning in order to know what’s being told. I personally don’t use a lot of tarot cards for my readings because of my own personal feeling about the kinds of energy that can come through on them. I do use Angel Tarot cards, which are tarot cards but created in a positive light.

ANGEL ORACLE CARDS- Angel cards are filled with nothing but positive energy, vibes and guidance directly from one source and one source only, your divine being besties. There is no set number of cards in a angel oracle deck and each deck is different. There are certain layouts you can do for an angel reading, however there is no set structure for using these cards and you can just pick out one card for a quick answer.

 

WHERE CAN I FIND ANGEL ORACLE CARDS TO PURCHASE?

You can find Angel Cards in MULTIPLE places, including your neighborhood Barnes and Noble. Here are some of my favorite decks!

  1. KYLE GRAY - Kyle Gray is an Angel Expert and international best-selling author. I LOVE his Angel Decks, the image below is from his Angel Prayer Oracle deck.
  2. DOREEN VIRTUE - Doreen is an Angel Expert and is also an international author. Doreen has multiple angel decks out there, see the link for everything!

 

HOW I DO I PERFORM A READING FOR MYSELF?

Almost all Angel Oracle Decks come with a mini guide on how to perform readings on yourself and others. These guides also include detailed descriptions of each card that can be found in the deck itself, which is extremely helpful!

1. SET THE SCENE- Create a quiet, clean, calming environment for your reading. Light a few candles, open up the window to let some fresh air in and make sure you are in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and take a few breaths to calm your mind and body before jumping into a reading.

 

2. CLEARING YOUR DECK- Rule number 1 of an angel reading is making sure that your card deck is clear. Clearing means that you are getting rid of any old energy, or an old reading associated with the deck itself. To clear simply take the deck in your left hands and knock on it with your right fist. Simple!

 

4. OPENING COMMUNICATION- Now it’s time to invite your angels in! Simply ask all of your angels to come on in because you want to chat with them, it’s also a good idea to specifically ask for Archangel Michael to protect the reading. Archangel Michael is an amazing, powerful protector, and will be sure to keep you and anyone else safe during the process. You can either ask all of this out loud or in your head (they’ll hear you, either way that you decide).

 

5. CHOOSING THE READING LAYOUT- Once you’re all prepped and you have your angels on stand-by mode, it’s time to pick what kind of layout you want for the reading itself. There are so many options for layouts, which can all be found in your mini guide that is included in your deck. 

 

6. FIGURING OUT WHAT YOU WANT TO ASK OR KNOW ABOUT- Now is the time to get clear on your intention for the reading. What do you want to know about? What question do you have for your angels? Be specific and clear in your questions.

 

7. HOW TO PULL CARDS FOR YOUR READING- Once you have in your mind what kind of layout you want to do and what your question is, it’s time to pull those cards into action!

All you have to do is start slowly shuffling the cards (this is where the crazy magic happens), focus on your angels and ask your question while you shuffle. When you FEEL called to stop, STOP and pull out that card. Sometimes a card will LITERALLY FLY OUT OF THE DECK, that’s a SIGN that your angels want you to use and see that card. When I shuffle my deck, my angels either let them fly or jolt my deck to make me stop.

 

8. FIND THE MEANING IN THE CARDS- Once you have the card or cards laid out, it’s time to grab your mini guide located in the deck and read about the cards you pulled. Prepare to be mind blown. Remember to always have an open mind and place your ego to the side when reading your messages from your angels. A lot of the time it’s a message that deep down you know is the truth, but you have been having trouble facing it.
